Valentine’s Day spies

On Valentine’s Day, the CIA tweeted a little fun romantic story about Romeo Spies. That’s what they called these handsome men of espionage and secret trading. These Romeo Spies romanced women, mostly married, with sensitive military/diplomatic intel in their possession, or rather in their husband’s possession, and during pillow talk with the cheating wife, confidences were betrayed. One of the best known Romeo Spies to the CIA was a German man named Markus Wolf. He was nicknamed “The man without a face” the greatest spymaster of all time. No one knew who he was, and indeed when Mr Wolf was a younger man he was rather handsome, very dapper.

Today, we have the internet to spy for us, track your movements, pop-up adverts using key words, and introducing anonymous members of hostile opposition hell bent on heated (often times nonsensical) political debates.

I’m a registered Republican, but you already know that. What prevents me from being invited to sit with them at the big Conservative adults table are these facts : I’m pro choice. I think IUD’s and birth control pills should be free, or at the very least affordable like condoms. I’m also not religious. Meaning I’m not a practicing Catholic, though I am soundly theologically educated. I’m single with no children. I also don’t own any guns. (A-ha! That one might soon change.) And so at the very least, since they are grateful for my contribution, I am regarded by the Republicans like one of those Romeo Spies. A harlot. The woman with many faces. 😂

Ok. Cool. Whatever. I can accept that.
